As part of our inaugural Distinguished Lecture programme, we are delighted to welcome Tristram Carfrae from Arup Group to the University of Southampton, where he will be presenting his lecture: Leading a Successful Creative Business. Tristram, a structural engineer, Director and Arup fellow, was behind the design of The Water Cube – Beijing’s National Aquatics Centre for the 2008 Olympics. He also boasts an impressive portfolio of other projects including: Helix Bridge, Singapore, AAMI Stadium, Melbourne, 1 Shelley Street, Sydney and Kurilpa Bridge, Brisbane.
Arup Group is renowned for its contribution to the building of the Sydney Opera House in the 1970’s; Arup is now a multinational engineering consultancy firm with over 10,000 employees and a turnover of about £1 billion.
This is a free lecture, commencing at 18.15 in 32/1015 (the EEE lecture theatre), open to staff and students across the university with a Q&A session to follow.
