Case-studies showing what it means to individuals and their departments and Faculties to get involved with developing and offering interdisciplinary modules are now available on the Curriculum Innovation website http://southampton.likn.co/cip/staffcurriculum/get_involved.page?#.ULjVyYZBdmu.
The CI survey results show that although staff understand why broadening the choice we offer to our students is important to the University and to the students themselves, understanding of what it means in practice to develop and teach these new interdisciplinary modules is much lower.
To help colleagues understand what is involved and decide if they would like to offer CI modules to their students or develop their own, some of the existing module co-ordinators spoke to Sarah Browning from the Internal Communications team about their experiences. The resulting case-studies have been published on the Get Involved page of the CI website http://southampton.likn.co/cip/staffcurriculum/get_involved.page?#.ULjVyYZBdmu. Take a look and see what they had to say about engaging students from different disciplines, the support they have been given and the challenges involved in working in different ways across Faculties.
