The annual Multidisciplinary Research Week will take place on 17-22 March 2013, celebrating innovation, sharing knowledge and inspiring multidisciplinary research excellence through an exciting programme of events. It will be held jointly with Southampton’s Science and Engineering Festival.
During the week, our top academics will open up debate with Question Time, presenting challenging arguments on the brain and behaviour. At a dynamic workshop you’ll be able to become ‘A Green Shopper’ and use sustainable materials in the form of the University’s 60th Anniversary Campaign banners to create something new as well as a long-lasting legacy of sustainability at Southampton.
World famous ‘Sustainomics’ guru Mohan Munasinghe will give a talk and visit the exhibitions, which will include a series of poems produced by creative writing PhD students explaining the research of PhD scientists.
Explore some examples of what new applications in imaging science the University of Southampton can reveal in areas such as archaeology, health sciences and biological systems and hear the latest on sustainable consumption in retail in the local area.
To end the week, a water-themed day including a showing of the seminal film Flow will culminate in a celebration of United Nations World Water Day, providing a gripping insight into aspects of the global water crisis.
The full programme and details of how to register will be available from the Multidisciplinary Research website southampton.likn.co/multidisciplinary from mid-January, or email [email protected] for more information.
