Last chance for seats at premiere screening of ‘Cancer Survivors’ film from 5.30pm on Wednesday 16 January

You are invited to join us to celebrate 10 years of partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and the University of Southampton, at the premiere screening of our ‘Cancer Survivors’ film from 5.30pm on Wednesday 16 January in the Nuffield Theatre.

With earlier diagnosis and new treatments for cancer being developed all the time, more and more people are surviving the disease, but many find the period of recovery after their treatment isolating and difficult. Macmillan Cancer Support has funded a team of researchers at the University of Southampton for the past 10 years. A unique Southampton study aims to improve support services for people who are living with and beyond cancer.

The ColoREctal Wellbeing (CREW) study, conducted by the Macmillan Survivorship Research Group, in Health Sciences, is gathering information from 1,000 colorectal cancer patients, about life after their illness. Participants are reporting the impact that cancer and treatment has on their daily lives and their path towards recovery of health and wellbeing. The study, funded by Macmillan Cancer Support, will give health professionals information about what helps or hinders effective recovery and inform the design of better services for future cancer survivors, including helping to prepare patients for life after their treatment

This groundbreaking work is one of many projects in which our researchers have teamed up with leading organisations from a range of sectors to help tackle some of today’s biggest challenges.

Seats are complimentary and are available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. The screening will begin at 6pm, no entry to the theatre will be allowed after this time.
