Have you had a burn injury? Can you help us with our research?

We are looking for adults (aged 18-70) who have sustained a burn injury (in the last five years) to take part in our study investigating the psychological impact of this type of injury.

We hope that the findings of this study may contribute to a better understanding of the needs of patients with burn injuries and towards improving the psychological support they receive.

What would happen if I took part? You would be asked to attend one research session at the University that will last approximately 90 minutes. During the session you would be asked to complete some questionnaires about psychological symptoms, a short computer-based exercise, and then answer some interview questions that involve thinking about the time you sustained your burn injury.

Are there any benefits to taking part? The information obtained from this study may help us to better understand the problems that can occur after a burn injury, so that we can develop improved treatment approaches in the future.

Although you would not benefit directly from taking part, some people do find it helpful to talk about their experiences. You will receive a £20 for participation.

If you are interested, or know someone else who might be interested in taking part, please contact: Hannah Moncad, Trainee Clinical Psychologist, by email at [email protected], or by telephone on 07517 119693 for more information.
