‘Crimes of the Heart’ – a new production at the Nuffield Theatre

Things are getting mighty messy in Mississippi as The Maskers Theatre Company prepare to bring their latest production – Crimes of the Heart to the Nuffield Theatre.

Touching, sassy and consistently hilarious, Crimes Of The Heart examines the plight of the dysfunctional and eccentric Magrath sisters from Mississippi.Crimes of the Heart Lenny, the eldest, has just turned thirty and is still unmarried, Meg is back after a failed singing career on the West Coast and the youngest, Babe, is out on bail having shot her husband because she “didn’t like his looks”!

Each has endured her share of hardship and misery. Past resentments bubble to the surface as they’re forced to come to terms and face the consequences of the crimes of their hearts in order to salvage their tumultuous relationship. Follow their story, with a few extra characters thrown in for good measure, as they try to escape the past in order to seize the future. Emotionally deranged and laugh-out-loud funny, Crimes of the Heart ignites a tragically comic family feud of epic scale.

One of the South’s leading amateur groups, The Maskers Theatre Company are a collection of writers, directors and players from Southampton who have been active on the theatre scene for almost five decades.
