Thank you – University recycling hits 75 per cent

We introduced the new two bin recycling scheme across all our buildings during autumn 2012 and want to say a BIG THANK YOU to you all for helping us recycle more.

We recycled 75 per cent of the main waste streams produced in January 2013.

This graph shows how well we are now doing:

We set ourselves a target of recycling 60 per cent of our waste by July 2013 and are on track to achieve, and probably exceed, this target.

But, we still need your help to keep recycling.

The Staff Survey showed 67 per cent of staff found it easy to recycle (of 2709 respondents) and while this is good, it also shows we still have some work to do to help you deal with your waste. We are also working with our students to ensure they also play their part.

The next stage of the project is to review recycling facilities in lecture theatres, laboratories and workshops to see what opportunities there are for recycling.
