We are pleased to announce the next CITE Lunchtime System Seminar.
Presenters: Adam Warren (CITE) and Graham Robinson (iSolutions)
Title: Panopto or Panopticon? Utopian and dystopian perspectives on lecture capture.
In August 2012, Panopto moved from pilot project to full service and is now a key element of the suite of systems available to support learning. This session will explore the technical, educational and social issues that increasing use of lecture capture will bring. For example, the Students Union has already proposed that ‘every lecture be captured’ – what would be the implications of that if it were accepted? The session will also highlight new educational possibilities such as the ability for students to submit video assignments.
We hope that the session will spark a lively debate about the positive and negative impacts that lecture capture technology could have on academic practice at Southampton. The video genie is out of the bottle, so we need to be very careful about how we phrase our three wishes!
When: Tuesday 12 March, 12.30-2pm
Where: Room 4005 in Building 34, Highfield campus
Light lunch will be provided, all welcome.
Please email [email protected], Debra Morris, to notify your intention to attend, for an idea of numbers.
