New directorate for Student Recruitment and International Relations established

To strengthen our ability to attract the best and brightest students to Southampton, the University’s Registrar, Tessa Harrison, recently announced the creation of a new directorate for Student Recruitment and International Relations.

The new directorate will bring together recruitment for undergraduate, postgraduate taught and postgraduate research students for both the UK and international markets. Colleagues from the International Office and the UK Student Recruitment and Outreach Office, previously part of Student and Academic Administration (SAA), will come together as one team under this new arrangement.

The new directorate will be led by Jo Doyle, Director of the International Office since 2002, and will continue to have a key role in the internationalisation of the University.

Tessa comments: “This change will enable a tighter focus and a more integrated approach to student recruitment, which is essential for us to compete in the rapidly changing world of higher education.”

Jo Doyle adds: “In this period of great challenge the recruitment activities undertaken by these teams becomes even more critical to the University. Working in an integrated way with colleagues in Communications and Marketing, Strategy and Planning, SAA and in Faculties will be essential to success.”
