Announcing the Parkes Institute events programme for April and May 2013

Tuesday 30 April, Lecture Theatre A, Avenue Campus at 6pm – ‘Did Ancient Jews and Christians think they belonged to “religions”? Why it matters what they thought.’

The speaker, Steve Mason, is Professor and Kirby Laing Chair in New Testament at University of Aberdeen.

Join us at the reception for nibbles and wine at 5.30pm, followed by the lecture at 6.00pm.

Tuesday 23 April in Lecture Theatre C,  Avenue Campus at 6pm – Dr Daniel Wiseman of Queen Mary, University of London talking on German TV crime series and German emotions – Jews in “Tatort”

In honour of Ian and Mildred Karten, Tony Kushner and all at The Parkes Institute take pleasure in inviting you to this key event at which our own Professor Sarah Pearce will be talking on ‘Out of the house of bondage?  Jewish perspectives on slavery in Egypt.’

The event will be chaired by Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Adam Wheeler

There will be a reception in the North Corridor from 5:30pm and the lecture will begin at 6pm.
