On Saturday 27 April around 400 students and alumni united to compete against each other in the annual ‘Alumni v Students’ sports day.
The day, organised by the Athletics Union and Alumni Relations team saw students and alumni competing against each other in 14 different sports disciplines, everything from Archery to Volleyball!
This year the overall title was claimed by the current students, who won the majority of the sports disciplines on the day, however the alumni teams did triumph in the ladies basketball, ladies water-polo and men’s lacrosse.
Dean Jones VP Sports Development, University of Southampton Students Union said:
“This year’s alumni sports day was a great success. The current students won overall, but it’s more about students past and present coming together to play the sport that they love rather than a serious sporting contest.”
The sports day has been running for four years, it’s a great way for past students to come back to the University, connect with friends and play for their old sports societies. Current students are able to meet with recent graduates and gain an insight into life after University in an informal way.
