INTECH Science Centre is proud to announce the start of regular Saturday night planetarium showings. The Science Centre’s planetarium houses a 360° full dome cinema facility. This offers high-quality digital projections across the entire inside of the dome creating a fully immersive experience that fills the field of view. “The planetarium is one of the best experiences I’ve had. There are six projectors which display a film across the dome overhead … it felt like we were flying through space and were really there with the whole of space around us. The seats were so comfortable I could have stayed for hours.” recent Planetarium customer.
These evenings will feature both live presenter-led shows and pre-recorded films, within the 360 degree full dome experience.
The live presentations will last a full hour (including questions and answers) and are aimed at people new to astronomy, offering an entertaining overview of different topics. These shows will offer a different focus each month. The pre-recorded show can be booked as a stand-alone film or with the live presenter-led show.

The Stars: A tour of the night sky (1hr inc Q&A) presented by Dr Jenny Shipway
Lie back under the beautiful starry skies of the planetarium dome to discover patterns, pictures and the stories that inspired them. Find out about the different types of stars you might see, why the zodiac signs are special, and other things you might spot on a dark night. Suitable for beginner stargazers, best for adults and children aged 8yr+. This is a live, presenter-led show.
“We are Aliens” (24mins)
From the makers of “Astronaut” and “We are Astronomers”. This family show takes the visitor on a fascinating, immersive journey to explore the evidence of where there could be alien life in our galaxy. Find out what scientists are doing to try to answer one of the most fundamental questions: are we alone? Narrated by Rupert Grint (who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films). This show is ideal for mixed age groups.
NB: The main Science Centre’s hands-on exhibition space will not be open during these events. However there will be refreshments and a licensed bar available.
