The way to pre-pay for bus travel is changing – you will need to register for our new smartcard ‘the key’ in order to pay for travel on uni-link buses. Staff ID passes will not be accepted from 30 June as they will not work on the new ticket machines. Cash can still be accepted by the driver and staff can still pay for their travel through their salary.
If you pay in June you will receive an early bird discount on your academic pass and with your new key smartcard you will have access to the whole of Southampton city centre on Bluestar buses too.
