The University Open Days are taking place on Friday 5 July and Saturday 6 July with all subjects except Winchester School of Art based subjects taking part. Highfield, NOCS and Avenue Campuses will all be open for prospective students to look around.
In total there will be 197 separate events for people to go to including subject specific talk, tours, drop-ins and general events where visitors can learn more about what their University experience will be like. Events planned include campus tours, tours of halls of residence, information on exchanges abroad, fees and finance information as well as a talk given by Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alex Neill about why students should choose the University of Southampton.
This year Communications and Marketing are introducing the new UG recruitment campaign, ‘Ambition’ to the Open Days with a newly revamped Information Stand area in Garden Court. It is hoped that visitors will engage with the area more and as part of it we will be asking them to write and tweet their ambitions to the new Ambition Wall by using #myambition.
We will also be registering visitors while they are here this year. Prospective students are being issued with a QR code as they book their place online and they will be able to register on QR code readers found on all three campuses to enable us to capture who attends the event.
Staff should be aware that we are expecting some 10,000 visitors per day and so there will be a lot more people on campus. We have employed some 200 student ambassadors to help ensure everyone gets to their events, but please offer help to anyone looking lost.
Please also be aware that although all visitors are directed to park at West Quay and then use the free Uni-Link shuttle bus service between campuses, some visitors may try and park on campus so please expect roads around the University to be busier than usual.
