Participants needed to explore physiotherapy treatment for chronic neck pain

I am looking for people who have had neck pain of moderate or high intensity for over three months to take part in an Msc (pre-registration) Physiotherapy study exploring a treatment called Adapted Reflextherapy for chronic neck pain and whiplash injury.

Participation in the study includes six half hour sessions, one for baseline measurements, four free treatments once a week and one follow up session two weeks later. Some participants will receive a dummy (placebo) treatment.

Adapted Reflextherapy uses single points of pressure on the feet, to alter symptoms in the neck. This is a pilot study for the therapy and the first of its kind. Adapted Reflextherapy is used in both private and NHS clinical practice. In particular for patients whose symptoms are highly complex, highly irritable and for whom other physiotherapy modalities have not proved helpful, or impossible to administer due to their high degree of irritability.

If you would like to participate in the study, or if anyone you know may be interested, please contact [email protected].

Ethics approval gained (ethics number 5747). Treatments will start end of July/August.
