Institute for Life Sciences Conference: Reproductive Biology – from gametes to systems, and between generations

Colleagues are invited to register for the IfLS Conference, Tuesday 17 September, Turner Sims. The keynote speaker is Lord Winston, Professor of Science and Society at Imperial College and the programme includes speakers from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Oxford, Hull York Medical School and Southampton.

The conference focuses on reproductive biology and reproductive medicine.  Many of the presentations will address very relevant problems in reproductive medicine that are being investigated through basic science.  The research themes will include those spanning traditional disciplines and others where new avenues of enquiry have been established.

In the year that sees the death of Sir Robert Edwards, the pioneer of IVF, we also want to address the question of what is the future of reproductive biology and medicine. How can new technologies help us investigate mechanisms in reproductive biology and medicine? Are there still big unknowns in our understanding of how we reproduce and create healthy children?

These themes will be presented by leaders in their respective fields, either internal or external to the University of Southampton, and will offer an opportunity for delegates to take stock of the major issues faced today in reproductive biology.

The keynote speaker is Professor Lord Winston, Professor of Science and Society and Emeritus Professor of Fertility Studies at Imperial College London.

Programme participants include:
