This weekend, step aboard Southampton’s steamship, the SS Shieldhall to see a performance unlike any other. On Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 September, the John Hansard Gallery are proud to present rising star Dickie Beau (described by the Guardian as “Astonishing”) as raconteur-extraordinaire Willy Little, lead actor of The Navy Cut Players – the cruise ship troupe that never was. Mixing live performance and film, this dark new work is a paean to the melancholy demise of music hall.
Tickets are limited and booking is essential – see below for details. An Audience with Willy Little’ is written and devised by artist Mel Brimfield and co-produced with Dickie Beau and composer Paul Higgs. Commissioned as part of artSOUTH (www.artsouth.org.uk) and organised by the John Hansard Gallery. Mel Brimfield’s work also features in a major solo exhibition ‘Death and Dumb’, on show at the John Hansard Gallery until 2 November 2013.
