The indoor sports hall has finally reopened, which means the Veterans 5 a-side football league can re-start after a year’s absence. The Veterans League has been running since 1972 and is a University-wide tournament. The league is open to all University staff, post-graduate students and retired staff, of all abilities. Fixtures have previously been played on Friday evenings, over the course of the academic year, between 1730 and 1930 (depending upon kick-off times).
Fixtures for this year are still to be arranged, but will hopefully follow a similar pattern to previous years, with fixtures starting in mid-October. Games are played in the indoor sports hall in building 42. Teams are required to have a maximum of six players. All team members must have a valid Sports and Recreation membership, or pay the appropriate guest fee to play (payable before playing at the Jubilee Sports Hall). The league is a great social event throughout the year, allowing you to meet other staff members from across the University, share an interest in football and have fun whilst doing it.
