This event celebrates artSOUTH’s partnership with 12 secondary and primary schools in the past year, including a showcase exhibition of work created by students in conjunction with artists. It is also a chance for teachers and other professionals to share in an inside evaluation of this strategic programme of artist-led projects.
Contributors include Ronda Gowland-Pryde (John Hansard Gallery), Jo Montague (Hampshire County Council & artSOUTH), Peter Taylor (Artswork), Gaynor Davies (Artswork), Lorraine Cheshire (Artswork), and Oliver Sumner (Independent Visual Arts and Learning Consultant), with discussion and feedback from teachers and artists involved in the project.
The event is of particular interest to teachers, trainee teachers and artists, as well as other arts and education professionals. Participating artists and teachers will share their experience of the programme and suggest tips for future practice. In the course of the afternoon we will consider:
How can artists and arts organisations work more effectively with schools?
How can Arts Award and Artsmark be used to develop new and better school/arts partnerships?
How has this work supported teacher and artist CPD?
What are the benefits of linking Teaching and Alliance Schools through external arts partners?
What legacy is achieved for schools beyond the life of the project?
Admission FREE – to book please search for the event on www.eventbrite.co.uk or contact the John Hansard Gallery: 023 8059 2158 / [email protected]
