We will be holding a one-day cultural event on Saturday 23 November at Avenue Campus consisting of a series of short talks led by experts from within History at Southampton.
This thought provoking and inspiring conference will provide you with the opportunity to learn and engage in discussion about the Tudors from academics of international distinction.
During this study day we will explore various cultural and political aspects of Tudor and Stuart life. The topics reflect the current research interests of members of the History department and they cover a broad range of themes.
These include the life and reputation of Anne Boleyn, the purpose and significance of gift giving at the Elizabethan court, perceptions of masculinity during the English Civil War, attitudes towards gypsies and the life and reputation of Prince Rupert of the Rhine’s famous witch-dog ‘Boy’.
