Global Entrepreneurship Week Highlights

Global Entrepreneurship Week (this year from 18-24 November) is the world’s largest campaign to promote entrepreneurship and Career Destinations were thrilled to be a part of this incredible event.  We started the week with a Digital Marketing Strategy Workshop led by Richard Milton, a highly experienced marketing expert helping steer the University’s digital marketing strategy.”

On the Wednesday, 14 Southampton students (and one illustrator) travelled to the Bournemouth Executive Business Centre to compete in the annual Dynamo Challenge. This enterprise competition saw our students work with representatives from the universities of Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Southampton Solent and Winchester and battle against each other in mixed groups on a business brief. This year the Dynamo Challenge focussed on Isle of Wight based ethical clothing company Rapanui and we have some fantastic feedback, photos and drawings from the day.

To round off the week, Deloitte Global Chairman Steve Almond delivered a talk on “The Importance of Innovation in Business and Society”. Introduced by our Vice Chancellor, Professor Don Nutbeam, Steve spoke about the importance of innovation for society’s wellbeing and how first-rate universities, such as Southampton, are shining examples of developing such innovation.

Career Destinations would like to thank all our partners, staff and students who got involved in this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week and will look to make next year’s event even bigger and even better.
