The University academic and office buildings are generally closed from Tuesday 24 December 2013 to Wednesday 01 January 2014 inclusive.
As in the past, the University’s out-of-hours policy will apply throughout this period. Please see at
http://southampton.likn.co/estates/services/outofhoursworking/
As you can see, anyone wishing to enter/use a University building on any of these closed days must:
- Complete a risk assessment for the activity concerned, particularly covering the lone work aspect, if this is not all already covered in an existing risk assessment.
- Obtain permission from their Dean or Head of Academic Unit or Service Director – who should confirm that a suitable and sufficient risk assessment is in place – using Form A on the above site.
- Register with the University’s Central Control Room by copying the completed Form A and the Dean’s / Head of Academic Unit’s / Director’s permission to CCR at: [email protected]
- Also complete and retain Form B on the above site, and have this on their person whilst in the building on closed days.
NB Any normal local rules re out-of-hours and lone working will apply, i.e., any activity, or access to any area, that is prohibited or restricted out-of-hours or for lone working will be so during the above period.
Please note Avenue campus will also remain closed throughout this period to students and unauthorised staff.
Only the Health Services Library will be open after 23 December until 2 January and more details can be viewed at: http://library.soton.ac.uk/opening/christmas
