As part of the University of Southampton’s move to Astro House (our new data centre), iSolutions are required to shut down various servers that provide and run some software applications over the network.
There will be two phases of work on 3 January.
• Phase 1 – 07:00 – 08:30: Applications that are run through App V will be unavailable between 07:00 and 07:30 and are “at risk” until 08:30.
This work will impact all University provided PCs/laptops that use the software listed in our “Find out more” section.
Examples of this type of software include Adobe Reader and Mozilla Firefox.
Even if you have accessed this software previously, you may not be able to access it at this time.
• Phase 2 – 14:00 – 16:00: Applications run through licence servers will be unavailable for a maximum of 15 minutes between 14:00-16:00. If you already have the application open before 14:00, you should be able to continue working. However, you should note that applications should be considered “at risk” for the full two hours.
This has the potential to impact all PCs/laptops that are connected to the University network that are using the software listed in our “Find out more” section. An example of this type of software is SPSS.
Please ensure that you save your work regularly. A full list of applications that are affected can be viewed here: http://go.soton.ac.uk/5qm .
