Of 650 students who signed up last week to the goFIT challenge, 80 per cent said their number one interest in the goFIT challenge is to lose weight.
Terrific idea. But how? Most of us think we have to eat less in order to lose weight, but less what? Some people might say “calories” – but we don’t actually eat calories. We can’t go to a grocery store and buy calories. We eat food.
And if we just decide to “eat less food” we may actually be deleting the stuff in food we really need: vitamins, minerals and those macronutrients protein, healthy fats and even some carbohydrates.
So how do we lose weight and still get what we need to stay healthy?
Eat more – by color
If we focus on putting rich color on our plate – swap out the whites and yellows for dark rich greens, reds, purples for instance – we can eat more food and will loose weight. We’ll also feel more satisfied and get more of the nutrients we need to feel energised, reduce stress, be sharper.
