The Web Science Institute and the Doctoral Training Centre at the University invite you to the Web Science Research Week (24-28 February 2014) to influence research on the Web, Internet and Digital Economy.
The Web Science Institute is a research and training initiative of the University of Southampton that brings together the brightest minds to generate insight and innovation on the Web, Internet and Digital Economy. Its inaugural research week is undertaking a programme of short term projects. This is open to final year undergraduate students, MSc students and staff.
WSI Research Week 2014 Outline Programme
- Monday 24 February 11am – 2pm: Garden Court, University of Southampton. Launch of the Research Week with keynotes, lunch and poster session networking opportunity with our students and staff.
- Tuesday 25-Thursday 27 February. At University of Southampton: postgraduate students will work on the proposed projects in their groups. We will organise a lunchtime programme of Guest Seminars from Industry Partners and meetings to discuss future research directions.
- Friday 28 February 11am: At Royal Society, London. Summary presentations by the groups on their projects, closing keynotes and lunch.

You are very welcome to participate and be part of a research group for an hour, half a day or whatever time you can contribute during the week. But if you can’t participate in a research group, you are welcome to attend the launch or join the week’s highlight on Friday 28 February at the Royal Society, London. Transport to London will be provided for those who would like to find out more about Web Science MSc/PhD opportunities.
