Due to the current and expected flood waters from the River Itchen, the University has decided that in order to maintain the safety of staff and students the West Side* buildings of WSA will CLOSE by 1pm today (Thursday 6 February).
Your work or any belongings in lockers located in rooms above the ground floor will be safe and secure from any flood waters. However, should you wish to remove any personal belongings please take this opportunity to do so as the buildings may be closed for some days.
East Side buildings – we will endeavour to operate all buildings and services on the east side of the campus normally. However, we may have to close the entire campus if there is significant flooding on the east side or if safe access to the site is impossible because of flood water.
The WSA Campus is being carefully monitored to assess the flood risk and further updates will be posted on Sussed. If a decision is made to close the whole site at the beginning of the day this will be posted on Sussed by 7am and local media will be informed as appropriate.
STUDENTS
The West Side building will be closed by 1pm today (Thursday 6 February). Any teaching scheduled for these buildings is cancelled for Thursday 6and Friday 7 February. Your studies will not be disadvantaged. If buildings are to remain closed next week, we will notify you directly of alternative arrangements.
If it is not essential for you to enter campus, please stay away.
If you are already on campus, please be extremely careful as you leave, the flood water hides uneven surfaces.
Halls of Residence – there are no flood warnings for the Erasmus Park and they are operating as normal.
STAFF

Staff should be instructed by their line manager and in some cases may be asked to work at alternative University sites
