Important notice – IT service availability between 28 February – 3 March

As part of the Infrastructure Investment Programme, improving our IT, we are moving IT services to the new Data Centre.

The following services will be unavailable:

  • Shared Filestore (J:\ drive) between 07:00 Saturday 1 March to 05:00 Monday 3 March

Please note that Research Filestore is not affected

  • Personal Filestore (all ‘My Documents’ and the Desktop on University Windows PCs) between 07:00 Saturday 1 March to 05:00 Monday 3 March

       ·   Banner (student records) from 14:30 Friday 28 February to 09:00 Monday 3 March with the service being ‘At Risk’ on Monday 3 March and Tuesday 4 March

  • Access to student Office 365 email and SharePoint 2010. There will be intermittent access to these services between 09:00 – 12:00 on Saturday 1 March

The impact of this will include the following:

Using University provided Laptops and PCs (including Public Workstations and Lecture Theatre PCs)

  • You may experience slow logon and performance with University provided desktops and laptops
  • You may experience slow logon and performance with Public Workstations as well as Lecture Theatre PCs

Filestore

  • You will not have access to files and folders that are stored in shared and personal locations, please make arrangements to save and store essential items in alternative locations (such as a USB memory stick).

Please note that you should re-save any items following this work to ensure that your files and folders are secure and backed up

Banner

  • All aspects of Banner including the Admissions Review Centre, Enrolment, Online Application and Self Service will be unavailable during this period, therefore you will not have access to student record information
  • At risk period – Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 March.  Following the move to the new Data Centre, Banner will be ‘at risk’ on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 March in case of any unexpected problems.  Note that in the highly unlikely event that the decision is made to back out of this migration, data will revert to the state it was in at 14:30 on Friday 28 February.
