How the network outage will affect University libraries on Monday 17 March after 19:00

Please be aware that if you were planning to visit the Library on Monday 17 March, there will be a reduced level of service between 19:00 and midnight. This is a due to the University’s continued network service improvement programme. The network outage will affect all networked IT services across the entire University.  Service availability will be affected both on and off campus.

Throughout this time, the University library buildings will be open as usual (Hartley Library closes at midnight), although the Avenue Library & the Language Resource Centre will close at 18:00 and Winchester School of Art at 18:30.

 Some services will be restricted:

* Access to Library study spaces will be as normal

* Hartley Library loan services will end at 19:00

* Books may be returned, but there will be no online user services, no holds, no renewals, no inter-site loans

* No holds can be serviced during the outage period, there will be restricted access to returned stock

During the period of work, there will be no access to networked services in University libraries or workstation areas.  Printing and resources which are accessed via authenticated services will all be unavailable.

All networked services (email, websites, Virtual Private Network) will be unavailable during this period, on campus and off campus.  The Library’s circulation system, including self-issue and return will also be out of action, as will Webcat.

We apologise for any inconvenience during this important work.
