Students – Tell us what you think about your private accommodation to be in with a chance to win £500.00

The National Student Housing Survey (NSHS) is an annual survey by RedBrick which aims to collect data on student satisfaction in both university and private accommodation. It was launched in 2007 and last year they had over 19000 responses and over 190 universities and colleges from across the country taking part and this year the University of Southampton is one of them.

Who does the NSHS target?

The NSHS targets all students living in accommodation; whether it is halls of residence, university owned or managed housing, those renting from private landlords or agents, even those living with their parents!

What does the survey cover?

The survey asks students about what influenced their choice in accommodation, moving in, maintenance, noise levels, safety, communal spaces and value for money.

What are the benefits of the survey?

There are many benefits of the survey; once the survey closes on the 31 May, the NSHS will then collect, analyse and evaluate the data they have received and send it to us in the form of reports, so we can see which areas we are performing well in and which need improving. Not only this, but it also allows us to compare ourselves with other institutions around the country who have taken part and see where we are in comparison.

What’s in it for students?

It gives students a chance to tell us about their university accommodation experience, no matter what they are studying, what level of study they are at, or where they are actually living. The NSHS also offers a £500 cash prize for an entry selected at random.
