We are planning to carry out an upgrade of the telephone system software, together with some related works on Wednesday 16 April and Thursday 17 April, which are University Closure Days during the Easter break.
Dates and times:
•Wednesday 16 April: 12:00 – 16:00. All incoming external calls will be diverted to an answering service. The whole service will be unavailable for two hours within this period.
•Thursday 17 April: Telephony system testing, where the service should be considered ‘at risk’.
General Impact:
• The University’s 24-hour Control Centre will not have internal telephone services and therefore will have to use its external BT line to take emergency calls. The number to call is 023 8055 8477.
•Internal phones all over the campuses will NOT be available for people to use, including the lift phones and refuge phones. Therefore, as a precaution, staff should be advised:
◦ to avoid coming on site at all if possible;
◦to avoid coming on site alone;
◦to avoid using lifts while on site;
◦if you have to come on site, you should bring a mobile phone and ensure it is charged and has network coverage;
◦where lone working is unavoidable, you should check in advance for any out of hours lone working arrangements in your building;
◦ locally set diverts, Message Waiting Indications and any other local changes made on extensions may be lost. If you are at all concerned about the possibility of losing a setting, such as call diverts, please contact ServiceLine before the Easter break.
◦Network connections to PCs and laptops over IP phones will also be disrupted (if your network connection for your PC/laptop also goes through your phone)
