As part of the University’s Infrastructure Investment Programme, iSolutions are replacing old network equipment in buildings across the University’s campuses.
iSolutions is preparing to replace University network equipment at Southampton General Hospital and Princess Anne Hospital on the weekend of 26 and 27 April. The maximum outage for any network hub room is expected to be four hours, however, please note that the ‘at risk’ window will start at 09:00 and finish at 18:00 on both days.
Network connectivity will be disrupted in these buildings during the work. This will affect all wired and wireless devices that use the University network including printers, alarms, building management systems and door access controllers.
Areas affected will be:
- South Academic Block (includes workstation room AA75, Health Services workstation room AA07a, LT1 and LT2 computers)
- Centre Block
- Lab and Path (includes SCBR areas)
- Princess Anne Hospital
Areas not affected will be:
- CLAS
- WISH Laboratory
- LifeLab
- CTU Modula Building
- Eye Hospital
- Duthie
- Tenovus
- Somers
- IDS
- SGH Health Services Library office network points (Workstation room AA07a in the Health Services Library will be affected)
Impact on Services
- For the areas affected, there will be a loss of connectivity to any networked PC or laptop for the duration of the work
- M and U drives for Medicine will be unavailable for part of the weekend as will some Medicine research websites
- Offsite and mobile access to web based systems such as Office 365 Outlook Web Access and Blackboard will be unaffected although there may be some interruptions to MEDIS (Medicine students only)
Please note that this affects the University network only and there will be no impact upon NHS systems and services.
