April Brown Bag Lunch: What are we good for? Social responsibility as a core goal

Highfield_CampusJoin this month’s Brown Bag Lunch, today, Wednesday 30 April, where we will hear from Julian Skyrme, the University of Manchester’s first full-time Director of Social Responsibility.

The University of Manchester has only three core goals, one of which is social responsibility. Since being  appointed nearly a year ago, Julian has overseen a major review and consultation on social  responsibility activities, culminating in the launch at the end of last year of an ambitious  new strategy based around five new strategic priorities for social responsibility and a  handful of  new ‘Signature Programmes’ aimed at addressing major social, economic, cultural and environmental challenges.

In his presentation Julian will talk through this journey, describe some of the strategic  challenges in directing this agenda across the UK’s largest university and outline Manchester’s ambition across their focused social, educational and environmental change initiatives launched as part of their new Signature Programmes.

The session will give you the chance to ask challenging questions and contribute to considering what some of the answers may be.  It will also offer a chance to meet colleagues from across campuses and bring us together to talk about the University and what matters to us.

Tea and coffee will be available but lunch is not provided. Please note the later time of this session at 15.00.

Date: Wednesday 30 April

Time:  15.00 – 16.00
