Theano would like to invite all postgraduate students, who are currently doing their PhD or planning to do one in the future, to attend this session aimed at presenting the different challenges that might face them during this journey. This session will be run by a professional academic advisor with extensive experience in supervising and dealing with PhD students’ problems.
The speaker will cover the following points:
The relationship between the researchers and their supervisors as this relationship is pivotal to the successful completion of the PhD degree.
How to manage your time and the workload.
How to find solutions to the research problems that you are facing.
In addition, Dr. Matthew Tofield will give a talk on the psychological issues to do with ‘surviving’ a PhD. He deals a lot with people who need help to overcome stress, procrastination, self-doubt and low self-efficacy and loneliness, all of which PhD students can experience during their research.
