On the 85th anniversary of her birth, the University’s Parkes Institute for the Study of Jewish/non-Jewish relations will be commemorating Anne Frank on Wednesday 12 June with an evening programme that explores the life and legacy of this iconic child of the Holocaust.
Attendees will hear presentations from several members of the Parkes Institute including Dr Tom Plant, Dr James Jordan, and Jennifer Craig-Norton.
The programme will consider the question ‘Who is Anne Frank?’, discuss how her life has been represented in film and literature and investigate what her life and (and cannot) tell us about the lives of children in the Holocaust.
This free event is open to University students, staff and the general public. A light buffet will be served at 5:30pm in the North Corridor of Avenue Campus before the commencement of the programme in Lecture Theatre C at 6:00pm. Refreshments will be served at the break, and the programme will end at 9:00pm.
