Join Professor Charles Beaupre from St Mary’s University, Halifax, Canada on Thursday 12 June at 12.00 in b58/1067 for the Confucius Institute guest lecture.
Professor Beaupre has spent many years investigating the subtle interrelationship of body, mind and spirit, mainly through the Chinese art of Qigong, a practice with roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy and martial arts which involves aligning body, breath and mind for the cultivation and balancing of the qi or “life energy”.
He has presented at many international academic conferences, workshops and seminars on issues of health and wellbeing. His lecture will focus on western science and asian approaches to health and wellness.
His main area of research activity relates to cross-cultural educational psychology and he has been interested in comparative (East- West) studies of learning/teaching approaches as well as curricula and pedagogical activities informed by transformative learning.
