Reminder – Power outage scheduled at the end of June for the old B54 University Data Centre

Further to last weeks’ notice, you are reminded that statutory electrical maintenance activity in our old Data Centre is taking place during week commencing 30 June.

The impact to IT services is expected to be minimal, but please note the following and take appropriate steps to minimise the effect on your planned work.

It is important to note that Subscribe will no longer be impacted as we have taken steps to ensure that the service will continue to be available.

  • Some Research Filestore

Some elements of Research Filestore will not be available.  For information giving specific locations, please see http://go.soton.ac.uk/5xm.
You should ensure that any files or folders are copied to an alternative location, should you need access to them during this period.  Please also remember to copy these files or folders back after the power outage to ensure that they are safely backed up.
Please contact your Business Relationship Manager urgently if this is expected to cause you a problem

  • Email restoration services

For the duration of this maintenance work, you will not be able to restore emails, older than 30 days that you may have deleted.

  • Recovery of Filestore versions

For the duration of this maintenance work, you will not be able to recover a previous version that is older than 30 days.

The following services will be unavailable for specific staff groups:

  • HPC – Iridis 3, Lyceum 2 and Spitfire A
  • All ICT services that are provided by Geodata
  • MuVis
