TEAtime lecture series: Engaging sixth form students with innovative research

Are you interested in engaging local sixth form students with your research, and inspiring the next generation?

TEAtime is an engaging and informative lecture series for Year 12 and Year 13 students in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and aims to link current University of Southampton research to A-Level content.

The series has been extremely popular with the colleges involved and last year saw over 500 students engage with research in exciting and dynamic ways. This year we are looking to recruit more enthusiastic PhD/EngD and Early Career Researchers to lead lectures and interactive workshops for the 2014-15 series of TEAtime.

The sessions will be held in October, November, February and March. We are looking for inspiring and interactive workshops and lectures which showcase your area of research. Training and a generous speaker’s fee will be provided.

Previous speakers have feedback the following regarding the benefits of being involved in the project: “It is great to see the immediate impact of my research on a young audience”, “It provided me with good contact with regional teachers of relevant subjects”, “TEAtime gave me more experience with communicating my work and field to wider audience”.
