As plans for the Turner Sims (TS) auditorium refurbishment gather pace, with work to clear the space beginning directly after Summer Graduation ceremonies, we are pleased to offer our patrons the chance to take a piece of their favourite venue home with them.
For one morning only, the free-standing stage chairs that have for so long provided comfort for artists and audience alike (pictured, and also available in green…) will be yours to take home in return for a donation of £20 to The Ruby Campaign.
Originally purchased in the seventies, the Castelli chair is considered a retro Italian design classic. We can’t promise they will be in perfect condition, with some showing more signs of wear and tear than others – but we like to think of that as character! All seats will be ‘taken as seen’ on a first come, first served basis.
If you would like to give a TS chair a new home, they will be ready to take away on Friday 25 July between 10am and 1pm. We regret that we cannot store the chairs for you beyond this point, so patrons must have the means to transport them home.
However TS staff will be happy to help you carry the chair to your vehicle, should you need assistance. There is no need to let us know in advance, simply turn up on the morning.
