University business incubator in partnership to help start-ups to globalise

A new partnership between SETsquared, which is run by the universities of Southampton, Bath, Bristol, Exeter and Surrey, and UKTI (UK Trade and Investment) has sealed a deal which tailors UKTI services to the special requirements of pre or early revenue businesses with high potential for growth.

Technology start-ups will be able to access the services via regular drop-in clinics at SETsquared’s Innovation Centre in Southampton, where members will receive one-to-one advice sessions from UKTI international trade advisors and specific support services tailored to their needs on matters such as exporting, international business laws and raising funding internationally.

SETsquared’s partnership with UKTI is set to benefit hundreds of businesses, with around 250 companies currently members of SETsquared.

Director at SETsquared’s innovation centre at the University of Southampton, David Bream, said: “For small start-ups, the prospect of winning in international markets can be a daunting but the success of our companies that have expanded overseas is proof of the rewards it can bring.”

As well as the one-to-one clinics the new partnership will give SETsquared businesses access to wider UKTI events and programmes in the UK and overseas.
