An award from the University’s Education Enhancement Fund (EEF) has enabled the University Library to make significant enhancements to its online resources this summer:
- ‘Mass Observation 4’ provides online access to the final section of this landmark project, and includes material from the Mass Observation archive covering World War II and the period up to 1965. The archive covers all aspects of life and so can support learning across the whole range of disciplines.
- ‘The State Papers’ provide online access to the papers for the entire Tudor period, 1485-1603. The papers are fully text-searchable, and enable students to search and to browse with much more freedom than is the case with the printed material, allowing them much better access to contemporary documents as they study this period of history.
- ‘Palgrave Business and Management and Oxford Scholarship Online’ bring together a range of publications from these two publishers in the respective subjects. The material greatly enhances both the scope and the depth of our collections in these areas, and are likely to be of particular benefit to students engaged in dissertation or similar extended projects.
As online resources, they are available 24/7 and from any location, so are available during vacations and other periods when students may not have immediate access to physical libraries. Staff and students can stay up to date with information about the University libraries through their Facebook page.
The deadline for the next round of EEF funding is Wednesday 1 October. For information about the fund and how to apply please visit the website.
