The eye movements that people make during reading provide a “window” into the inner workings of the human mind. In this lecture, Eric will first briefly review the basic characteristics of eye movements during reading, and why their study has proved useful for understanding human perception and cognition.

Eric is currently a Professor of Cognitive Psychology at the University, where he is a member of the Center for Vision and Cognition in the School of Psychology. His research uses computational modelling, eye-movement experiments, and brain imaging to understand the perceptual, cognitive, and motor processes involved in reading.
