In July 2014, supported through the University’s Higher Education Innovation Fund, the Public Engagement with Research (PER) unit invited expressions of interest to develop new engagement activities. From the 27 brilliant public engagement ideas received, 5 projects successfully made it through the full application process and will begin in October.
The supported projects can be seen here.
Projects will support the PER unit’s core aim to further embed a culture of public engagement with research across the University.
They all have Southampton research at their heart and feature mutually-beneficial collaborations with internal and/or external partners. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Research & Enterprise Professor Judith Petts said
“Southampton has a long track record of excellent public engagement, so these new awards are both a celebration of that tradition and an opportunity to enable projects to move towards new levels of activity. I am excited by the potential of these 5 projects to help us develop our institutional culture of public engagement and to become models of best practice.”
