Professor Anna Mauranen, Vice-Rector and Professor of English at the University of Helsinki, will be making her first visit to the University as a Diamond Jubilee Visiting Fellow. She will be collaborating with Professor Jenny Jenkins and colleagues within the University’s Centre for Global Englishes. Over the three year Fellowship they will be carrying out a study of English Medium Instruction (EMI) to explore broader issues relating to English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), multilingualism and intercultural communication within each university.
During her visit, she will be delivering a public lecture on the topic of “English as a Lingua Franca – Broken English?”.
