Dr Martin Stolz and Dr Ling Wang will bring tribology to life at the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Tribology Tour 2014-15: Bringing Tribology To Life.
Thursday 23 October, 18:30 – 20:45, Hartley Suite, Highfield Campus.
The Tribology Tour will demonstrate how the science and engineering of friction, wear and lubrication is fundamental to energy production, manufacturing, transport, healthcare and many other industries.
Tribology can be applied wherever there are mechanical interfaces in relative motion and there is a desire to improve efficiency, reliability or cost-effectiveness. Tribology can open up exciting and powerful paths to new technological solutions. It improves the sustainability of products and systems, benefits the environment and increases economic competitiveness.
This event is presented by the IET Tribology Community in collaboration with the IET Solent Network and aims to bring tribology to life through real examples and case studies.
Refreshments and networking begin at 18:30, with the main lecture starting at 19:00. The event is open to staff and students and is free, but advanced registration is required to attend.
