Access to the Internet, including via EduRoam, from all University Campuses and Halls of Residence will be at risk on Saturday 6 December as new Internet firewalls are installed.
Two Short outages of approximately 5 minutes or less may be experienced at:
- 09:00 – Halls
- 09:30 – Rest of the University
Post change testing can be carried out from 10:00.
The new firewalls will improve performance, resilience and superior security features. This first phase of upgrading the firewalls is a ‘like for like’ replacement with unchanged security policies. All applications that currently work should not be affected by the change.
During 2015, further enhanced security and performance features will be enabled. Whilst iSolutions is planning to test all known critical applications, users are also encouraged to identify and test their own important applications both, before and after the change.
