Works by Southern Water will commence on Thursday 11 December on University Road to correct a partially blocked surface water sewer, which is contributing to flooding during heavy rainfall.
University Road will be restricted to a single lane controlled by temporary traffic lights. The existing signalised pedestrian crossing will be suspended for the duration of the works, which are expected to be complete before Wednesday 17 December. There will be a restriction of right turn only for traffic entering University Road from West Library Square.
Please note that University Road will be more congested than normal as a result of these works, which may increase journey times and all road users should take care with the temporary arrangements.
