Southampton is one of eight universities, including Oxford, Imperial and York, in a Jisc funded project aimed at getting active researchers across the UK to have an ORCID iD.
ORCID is an open, non-profit, community-based effort to provide a registry of unique researcher IDs. With ORCID you can ensure all your publications and outputs are correctly attributed to you. Unlike employer, funder or publisher identifiers, your ORCID record is managed by you and stays with you throughout your career.
• ORCID is a unique researcher identifier, used worldwide, that you keep throughout your life and retain even if you move institution.
• It is increasingly becoming the method of choice by funders and publishers globally to unambiguously link people to their publications and grants.
• If you already have an ORCID iD, you associate it with the University by using Southampton ORCID. The University can then attach it to any relevant data sent to the Research Councils or HEFCE, etc.
• Your ORCID record is owned and managed solely by you, not the University.
Please register now at on the ORCID website (campus only). For more information see our FAQs and if you have any questions or problems, you can email the Southampton ORCID project team.
