Team Southampton successful at BUCS National Championships

Dozens of students represented the University this weekend at the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) National Championships in Sheffield. Below are some of the accolades they achieved.

Commonwealth athlete, Elinor Kirk, won gold in the 3,000m women’s indoor athletics.

This was the first BUCS indoor athletics championships that medical student, Ellie, had taken part in,

“It’s my fifth year at Southampton and I have never done BUCS indoors before, it’s a great place to have the event, the crowd is great! I’d like to thank everyone at BUCS for a great weekend, it is so nice to come away with a medal.”

The Shooting team won gold in the Short Range Rifle title.

The Trampolining Team won silver in the men’s trampolining, with Rhys Gray also winning silver in the individual men’s trampolining.

Duncan Robinson won silver in the Men’s Epee Individual competition – Fencing.

In the pool, Southampton won gold in the B Final in the Men’s 400m Medley team event.
