Matt Tofiel, from the British Psychology Society, presents an uncomplicated guide to which parts of the brain are involved in stress and unhappiness, and an explanation of why anxiety and panic can arise and leave you feeling really stressed out. The talk will be held on:

12 March, at 17:30 – 20:00

Southampton University, Highfield Campus, Building 67, Room 1027

Matt will discuss how our behaviour mirrors what thoughts, especially negative thoughts, go through our head. He will explain how we can regain control over our stress by actively taking charge of our thoughts and feelings, and will outline coping mechanisms that will help deal with heavy workloads and stressful situations.

Most of us panic at some time in our lives, after all it galvanises us into action, a good survival technique. However, it is possible to regain enjoyment of our work and master our stress and panic response, and sometimes this can be as simple as making a list of what upsets us and thinking of ways to change those situations, or change our responses to those situations.

Free food and drinks will be provided. You can book your place here.
