Southampton’s Quidditch Club 1 (SQC1) won first place in the annual British Quidditch Cup held this month, coming first of 24 teams.
With a final score of 12o*^-90, SQC1 beat the defending Radcliffe Chimeras. The University’s second team – Southampton Quidditch Club 2 – took 16th place. A play-by-play review of the match is available on Soton Tab.
“Everyone who took part represented both our club and university fantastically and we’re looking forward to more success in the future,” says Simon Bidwell, Captain of SQC1.
The team will make its first appearance at the upcoming European Quidditch Cup taking place in Oxford on Saturday 18 – Sunday 19 of April.
Quidditch at the university has grown considerably in the last year, starting a second team and becoming the largest club in the country.
